The rules of this site are not intended to restrict enjoyment, but to keep the site and community safe and civil.

We record some personal information about users, namely email addresses of registered users and IP addresses of both registered and guest users. We do not disclose this information to third parties, unless someone performs malicious actions on the server; then the applicable information will be disclosed to the server administrator, Sazpaimon, for proper action to take place, and possibly the user's ISP.

The site administrators reserve the right to modify the rules, terms, and conditions of this website at any given time, and can be done without warning or notification. The site administrators also reserve the right to edit and/or delete any postings granted that the posting originally broke a rule on this site.

Users are only allowed one account on this site at any given time. Multiple accounts will be banned.

All content herein on this website are the sole responsibility of the content's creators, and not the site administration. We are not held liable for the actions of users on this site. By registering on this site, you are agreeing to this.

Rules
Section 1: Behavior
[1a] Do NOT flame or troll
Flaming is "an online argument that becomes nasty or derisive, where insulting a party to the discussion takes precedence over the objective merits of one side or another". Basically, getting into a mudslinging arguement. Trolling is where a user tries to coax other users into flaming. Flaming will get you suspended, constant flaming and/or trolling will most likely get you banned.

[1b] Keep outside disputes outside
If someone is harassing you over AIM/MSN, this is not the place to get a solution. We cannot deal with anything outside of HoleNet. Likewise, don't let outside arguments boil over into HoleNet.

Section 2: Posting habits
[2a] Do NOT SPAM
Spamming is the act of posting messages that have little relevance or point, especially to the topic at hand. If you keep posting offtopic replies, or advertisements to your site outside of your signature, you'll be suspended, or even banned.

[2b] Don't multipost
Make your topic once, and use the edit function instead of a new reply if you want to add something to a post you just made.

[2c] Don't steal bandwith
If you really need to post a large image, put it on your own hosting first, or ImageShack. Don't hotlink images from someone else's Photobucket account or web hosting.

[2d] Please keep your postings in the relative boards
Put your hacking stuff in the hacking boards, for example. We have multiple boards for a reason.

[2e] Don't bump old threads without reason
Generally, threads should stay dormant/dead if nobody has made a reply after a month. There are exceptions to this, but in general, please don't do it.

[2f] Please try to proofread your message before posting
Having a clear, well-written post will make it easier for everyone else to read and respond to your message. So before you press the "Submit" button, please double check your post for any spelling or grammar problems, and please try not to use any "netspeak". If all you post is unreadable garbage, you run a high risk of being banned.

[2g] Look for existing threads first
Many threads with topics like "lol look at this youtube video" can be fit into another, existing thread. Look for them, they're usually stickied so they appear on the top of the thread list all the time.

Section 3: Content Restrictions
[3a] No explicit content
No adult-oriented material is allowed. This includes any form of pornography or nudity. This also includes textually explicit postings. Posting explicit content will result in a PERMANENT IP BAN!

[3b] No illegal material
No illegal material can be posted. This includes warez (illegal software), cracks (edits to software to make them fully functioning), and ROMs (unless otherwise stated in specific rules within a subforum). Emulators, freeware/homebrew ROMs, and .IPS patches are fine to post. Posting any illegal material will result in a PERMANENT IP BAN!

[3c] No excessive swearing
No words are filtered, so you can post whatever you want to. However, using swearing in excess (especially "worse" words) will result in verbal warning, and your post will be edited to remove the words.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is HoleNET?
A: HoleNET is a fully functional parody of the Web 2.0 fad. It is also an internet community.

Q: What do you mean by "fully functional parody"?
A: The site's focus has shifted from game model rips and abandonware to making fun of this Web 2.0 phenomena via "services" that poke fun at most common Web 2.0 features, while still being complete, working, and usable as an alternative to big-name sites like MySpace and Digg, as well as popular blogware like Wordpress.

Q: What happened to WarezHole?
A: Essentially, HoleNET is WarezHole 4. However, the name "WarezHole" was dropped from the site's name, mainly because there are a lot of pople that don't like the five letter "W" word. All the old site content is available, but access is stricter, as this site is going to be more public. See the section about "Awesome Ratings" for more information.

Q: What services are available?
A: Web forums, blogs, link sharing, user profiles, and software repositories for Red Hat and Debian-based Linux distributions. Originally, image hosting and video sharing services were also in the works, but due to hosting space constraints, were cut from the final design. In the future, they may reappear, but it is doubtful.

Q: What does this site run on?
A: The server is CulTNet, run by Sazpaimon. The site software is Aurora, a custom-written CMS that is written in PHP and uses MySQL for a database. At the time of writing, Aurora is currently not for public distribution, but hopefully in the future, that will change.

Q: What is "The Awesome Index"?
A: It is a combonation of: a karma system, a warn system, and a VIP system. Users can give out limited points every 24 hours: that is, one point per user every 24 hours, for a maximum of 6 people every 24 hours. If you obtain a large amount of positive points, you will be promoted to the VIP user group and can access some new forums. If you obtain a large amount of negative points, you will be banned. Administrators and moderators can give as many points as they want; if you break the rules, you will be given a large sum of negative points. Likewise they can also give out large sums of positive points, in the case of things such as contests or competitions.

Q: I found a bug on the site, what should I do?
A: Please contact Techokami. It helps if you give a detailed explanation of what happened.
